Movie Theater Bag Check via Listen Up Ent

Attn: Movie Goers!!!

There’s a new rule coming soon to ALL Cinemark movie theaters…

Effective February 22, 2018: Any bags or packages measuring larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″ will NOT permitted into the theatre. In a statement on the company website they said the reason in doing this is “in an effort to enhance the safety and security of our guests and employees”.

As of now, this is the only movie theater company to heavily switch up their bag policy.

Regal Theaters Now Checking Moviegoers Bags Before Entering Cinema

After several movie theaters have suffered from tragic shootings, Regal Theaters have now decided to check everyone’s bag upon entrance into the movies.

It’s unclear when the policy began however moviegoers in Texas, Virginia, Florida and Ohio noticed the change beginning earlier this month.  Regal spokesman Richard Grover did not respond to requests for comment Wednesday but the company’s website states “security issues have become a daily part of our lives in America” and says that bags and backpacks are subject to inspection before entering.

Regal Cinema’s aren’t the only theaters changing their policy to ensure the safety of their customers.  National Amusements Inc.’s Showcase chain  has banned backpacks and packages and reserves the right to search purses and bags. It says the policy, which began Aug. 7, will be in place “for the time being.”

AMC Theatres spokesman Ryan Noonan said, “we don’t comment on security measures publicly.” Other chains, including Cinemark and Carmike, did not respond to requests for comment.

Star Wars Themed Airplanes?!?!?!

Flying high in the sky in a Star Wars themed airplane is what Japan is gearing up for.

Japan’s largest airline, ANA, and Walt Disney have teamed up and created Star Wars ANA Jet, which will showcase both BB-8 and R2-D2 on the outside of a Boeing 767-300.  These Star Wars themed planes will join the previously announced R2-D2 ANA Jet, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

ANA launched the Star Wars Project in April 2015 after signing a five year promotion license contract for the Star Wars brand.  The ANA Star Wars planes will also display in-flight decorations, such as headrest covers, paper napkins and cups featuring Star Wars characters.

We’re thrilled to unveil the designs of our new Star Wars themed planes, and I’m sure fans across the world will love the look,” said Osamu Shinobe, President and CEO of ANA. “At ANA we pride ourselves on offering the best possible flight experience, from the ANA Star Wars Project and our extensive in-flight entertainment options, to our peerless, award-winning in-flight service, dining options created by Michelin-starred chefs and wines chosen by our discerning sommeliers. We look forward to providing our passengers with an engaging in-flight experience as they travel our planet.”

The three Star Wars jets will fly international and domestic routes.
On October 18, the R2-D2 ANA Jet is scheduled to go into service on international routes, initially as flight NH116 between Tokyo and Vancouver, and then fly between Japan and other cities in ANA’s robust international network including the US (Seattle and San Jose), Europe (Munich, Paris and Brussels), Australia (Sydney), China (Beijing), and Indonesia (Jakarta).
