Will.i.am Bridging Fashion And Technology With New Eyewear & Gucci Smart Watches!

Will.i.am has a few new business ventures up his sleeve where he is bridging the gap with fashion and technology.  Will.i.am and Gucci chief executive Marco Bizzarri revealed a collaboration with the music mogul teamed up with Gucci Timepieces on a smart watch.

The “smartband” is standalone, it has the ability to make and receive phone calls; send and receive text messages and emails; hold music, maps, and your calendar; track your fitness; and even possesses a “sophisticated personal assistant” activated by voice command.

“In developing together a device that is both fashionable and technologically advanced, we will create something that is unique in the marketplace. From the very start, I coined the term ‘fashionology,’ a merging of the worlds of fashion and technology, which is exactly what this collaboration with Gucci represents” Will.i.am said in a statement.

Will.i.am and designer George Gorrow is also developing a new style of eyewear called ill.i Optics.

THE COLLECTIONS ARE A MARRIAGE OF EARLY HIP HOP AND CONTEMPORARY PROGRESSIVE INFLUENCES. ROOTED IN POPULAR CULTURE, ILL.I IS BOTH UNIQUE AND UNEXPECTED WITH A FORWARD THINKING AND UNCONVENTIONAL APPROACH. ALL FRAMES ARE HANDMADE IN ITALY WITH LEADING INDUSTRY CRAFTSMANSHIP AND INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES, HOWEVER, ILL.I AIMS TO INSPIRE BY PUSHING BOUNDARIES OF TRADITIONAL EYEWEAR WITH AVANT-GARDE AND UNORTHODOX APPROACHES.

“I SEE A GAP IN THE WORLD OF EYEWEAR AND THIS IS MY INSTALLMENT OF WHAT I FEEL IS MISSING. I WANT THIS TO BE AN HONEST BRAND – IT’S ABOUT DEDICATION AND PASSION.”

– WILL.I.AM

Details regarding pricing, distribution and launch timing for the smart watches have not yet been announced.
