Kevin Costner and Olivia Spencer star in new movie “Black or White” where Kevin plays a widowed grandfather who has to take care of his bi-racial granddaughter.
When the little girl’s paternal grandmother (Octavia Spencer) seeks custody, a legal battle ensues that forces the families to confront their true feelings on race, forgiveness and understanding. Anchored by an all-star cast and based on real events, the movie is a look at two seemingly different worlds, in which nothing is as simple as black or white.
In an interview with TheWrap editor in chief Sharon Waxman at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, Costner revealed:
“I just see a story that I think is of its time that reflects our time.
“It’s a modern look at where we’re at. So many children these days are products of biracial marriages. It’s just a fact of life,” he explained.
