VH1 hit show “Celebrity Rehab” intentions are to reveal how difficult it is for someone to cope with drug addiction.  However many celebrities on the show want to seek help, some of them have died once off the show.

Recently Mindy Mc Cready was found dead at her home with a suicide inflicted gun shot wound to the head.  Reports say that she may have ended her life after losing the life of her beloved boyfriend.

Joey Kovar, a former reality star from MTV’s “Real World”  died August 2012 of opiate intoxication.

Rodney King was attacked and beaten to a pulp by authorities in the Los Angeles County Area during the riots back in the 90’s.  King died June 2012 for drowning but toxicology reports indicate that he did in fact have alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP found in his system which were contributing factors.

Taxi and Grease star Jeff Conaway died May 2011 after being found unresponsive 17 days earlier, pneumonia was initially ruled the cause of death, those who treated him say it was his addiction to painkillers that cost him his life.

Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr was addicted to heroin and other drugs died of a drug overdose March 2011.

Although Dr Drew is trying to save lives, many people are questioning if putting the celebs on public display is actually helpful.

Dr. Drew, who treated the deceased cast members, released a statement after McCready’s death to People magazine:

“I am deeply saddened by this awful news. My heart goes out to Mindy’s family and children. She is a lovely woman who will be missed by many. Although I have not treated her for a few years, I had reached out to her recently upon hearing about the apparent suicide of her boyfriend and father of her younger children. She was devastated.”
