Stop Looking For Becky!

Beyonce Lemonade

I love this article I read on the Guardian about Beyonce’s new project “Lemonade” and it is exactly what I thought the message Bey was portraying is…

The title “Lemonade” stems from the saying “when life gives you lemons… make lemonade”.

For everyone looking to find Becky with the “good hair” let me break that down for you. You will not find 1 Becky and no Jay-Z did not cheat on Bey with her.

Becky with the good hair are woman lacking melanin with non coarse hair. The woman black men say too often they are leaving black woman for, for whatever their reason is.

The good hair people say Black Woman don’t have because it isn’t naturally straight and long.

Need more confirmation?

In Kanye West “Gold Digger” Ye had a line that said “and when he get on and leave your ass for a white girl” = BECKY with the good hair

Plies had a whole song called Becky… why? Because in the song he is talking about non melanin girls always give head and he wants some… “give me that Becky” he raps.

Has anyone watched Chris Rock’s movie doc “Good Hair” where he breaks down black woman and ‘”good hair”

Be simple minded if you want too off Beyonce’s “Lemonade” but I see what she’s doing. She is standing up for Black Woman and all we have to go through on all levels.

Natural Hair & Why Folks Are Confused

natural-hair

After reading a blog story titled “Here We Go Again: Multiracial/Mixed Hair is NOT Natural Hair” I had an uneasy feeling about people being confused on what “natural” hair is.

In the article the author states “(NATURAL HAIR IN TERMS OF BLACK WOMENS NATURAL HAIR) IS KINKY OR SOFT AFRO HAIR THAT HAS NOT BEEN ALTERED WITH CHEMICALS. I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHY THE MIXED RACE CURLY HAIR WOMEN STATE THAT THEY HAVE NATURAL HAIR NOWADAYS. ” and I must say that this is the most ignorant post I’ve read yet.  Thanks to my girls in the Curl Crush group on Facebook for posting this.  I wanted to take it upon myself to clear some things up about what I just read.

First let’s clarify what “natural” hair is… and unfortunately, there is no definition in a legitimate dictionary so I’m going to try my best to stay politically correct with the definition. Natural hair is the state in which hair grows out of ones scalp that has not been chemically altered, or having any foreign hair added (weaves, clip on, etc.) Having natural hair is not an ethic thing either.  Woman of all nationalities wear weaves so why should we limit natural hair to just black women.  If a woman wears her hair the way it grows without adding anything or making any modifications chemically, it is natural.

Mixed people can wear their hair natural by wearing it at it’s true state that it grows and not straightening it.  When you flat iron it, it is not natural.  The type of hair one has does not justify that it is natural.  How you wear it, does.  Me being mixed (black and white), I often wear my hair straightened.  But a day like today when I did a wash and go, let my curls hang low and stepped outside in a natural state of mind.  Saying that, “mixed” people cannot claim their hair is “natural” is idiotic.  That’s like saying caucasian women can’t wear their hair natural because it isn’t kinky. (insert blank faced emoji here). That’s dumb ass hell and very ignorant! Everyone’s hair is NATURAL until you add a perm and weaves and things of that nature.

Urban dictionary:

Your natural hair is when your hair is in the state that you were born with. Hair that is not permed, dyed, relaxed, or chemically altered.

Natural hair texture with its natural color.

I’m not going to perm my hair anymore; I prefer to where it natural.

Regal Theaters Now Checking Moviegoers Bags Before Entering Cinema

After several movie theaters have suffered from tragic shootings, Regal Theaters have now decided to check everyone’s bag upon entrance into the movies.

It’s unclear when the policy began however moviegoers in Texas, Virginia, Florida and Ohio noticed the change beginning earlier this month.  Regal spokesman Richard Grover did not respond to requests for comment Wednesday but the company’s website states “security issues have become a daily part of our lives in America” and says that bags and backpacks are subject to inspection before entering.

Regal Cinema’s aren’t the only theaters changing their policy to ensure the safety of their customers.  National Amusements Inc.’s Showcase chain  has banned backpacks and packages and reserves the right to search purses and bags. It says the policy, which began Aug. 7, will be in place “for the time being.”

AMC Theatres spokesman Ryan Noonan said, “we don’t comment on security measures publicly.” Other chains, including Cinemark and Carmike, did not respond to requests for comment.
